Summer Solstice : Invoking The Energy Of The Sun

We, like the sun can burn in a higher vibration, we have the power to nurture and transform not only ourselves but the planet. We can harness the energy of the sun and shine as bright as possible.

The Summer Solstice approaching on June 20th is a specially powerful one with the Full Moon falling on the same day. Combining the divine forces of the masculine and feminine. It is a highly spiritual time. It has been a time for ritual and celebration in many cultures, honoring the divine energy of the sun, the light and our connection to the Sun and the Earth. It is the perfect time to reflect on our true power and potential. To align with our masculine and feminine forces and find harmony. To ask ourselves what do we want? and how do we want to live our lives? with regret and anger, or with joy and gratitude?

We can invoke the energy of the sun on the Summer Solstice and the fire within to transform. But in order to create change we must learn to not identify ourselves with what is in the moment. Everything that resides in our minds, our thoughts, feelings and emotions are always changing. They come and go like clouds in the sky. If we can step back and instead witness all of this movement without identifying with it, then we know that we are not defined by this moment or habits. That we have the power to change our experience at any moment. That habits are NOT our destiny.

Change One Habit And Replace It For Another One And Make This New Habit Part Of A Routine. For Instance, If You Want To Quit Smoking, You Will Only Be Able To Quit If You Find Something Else That Replaces This Craving. Next Time You Have A Craving For And Old Habit You Want To Get Rid Of, Create A New One To Replace That Old One And Stick With It. If You Are Craving Ice Cream , Have A Smoothie Instead, Or If You Want To Create An Exercise Habit Instead Of Hitting The TV And Couch Then Make It A Routine Every Time You Come Home To Put On Your Work Out Clothes And Go Out For A Jog, Or A Yoga Class. Soon Your Old Habit Will Be Kicked Out The Window And Your New One Will Be As Natural And Necessary As Brushing Your Teeth.

I Like To Think Of It As Crowding Out. Instead Of Focusing On The Things You Can’t Have, Focus On The Ones You Can. Adding Pieces Works Better Than Taking Away. When We Think We Can’t Have Something, We Want It More. We Like To Rebel This Way. Makes Us Feel In Control. Start Adding Good Practices And Rituals Into Your Lives That Elevate Your Consciousness And Spirits. Let It Unfold And Give It Time. BE PATIENT. Patience Is The Secret To Success. If You Slip, Don’t Judge, Simply Go Back To Your Intention, With Softness And Compassion. As You Do This Process And Focus Your Attention On The Good And Positive Aspects Of Your Life , The Behaviors That No Longer Serve You Will Gradually Disappear. You Will No Longer Reach For Those Things That Poison You Because Once You Have Had A Small Taste Of The Divine You Will Come Back For More. Try It!

Meditation on becoming the Witness

Take a moment today to sit and contemplate.

Find a comfortable seat. Close your eyes and bring your awareness inwards.
Now bring your attention to the sounds outside.
The sounds of nature, or the city.
What can you hear? Can you hear your breath ? perhaps the wind, or cars passing.
Bring your awareness to your body. How are you feeling in your posture?
How is your body feeling? Strong, sore, stiff, relaxed? Perhaps your stomach is rumbling. Feel the movement of your breath. The contraction and relaxing of muscles.
What parts of your body are touching the floor, or chair, notice which parts of your skin are touching your clothes. Feel the sensations in your body. The air against your skin. Are you hot or cold? The sensations of breath, the cool air coming in as you inhale, the hot air going out on the exhale.

YOU ARE NOT TRYING TO CHANGE ANYTHING, YOU ARE JUST BECOMING AWARE.

Become aware of what is going on in your mind. observe your thoughts. Observe the images that come up in your inner screen. Notice emotions, feelings.
Now focus your attention to your own awareness. The space that holds together all the sensations, feelings, thoughts, that makes you perceive this moment. Focus your attention to attention itself.
Let yourself be that awareness. Observe.
